On this page we give you a look behind the scenes at the production of Tofvel. The video below gives a clear picture of how the Tofvel is made step by step. Production takes place in a small handicraft factory near Kathmandu, Nepal. Every Tofvel is made here by hand in a traditional way. We use 100% natural wool felt from free-grazing sheep. The sheep are not mulesed and they are sheared in an animal-friendly manner. Before production, the wool is first washed and combed. Wool felt can then be made from it. This is done by placing two layers of wool at right angles to each other and moistening them with soapy water. Due to the friction with water and the natural soap, the fibers hook into each other and the wool felt that can be used for shafts is created. Only ecological paint is used to obtain the different colours.
